Is there anyone out there that is not aware of the relationship between GayPornBlog, which is owned and operated by NakedSword, a division of AEBN, which in turn, owns Raging Stallion? Apparently, someone at GayPornBlog deems this information too intimate to reveal; at least, after posting a criticism of their recent post Is Leaked Raging Stallion Clip Snuff? pointing out that there is absolutely no coincidence that it appears, and that it seems rather self-serving not to disclose the relationship, that’s all I’m left to think. Three days later and my comment seems to be stuck in moderation.

A “leaked” clip of an “envelope-pushing” scene. Wow, who woulda thunk it? Liked the “evaluation copy” watermark, nice touch. I’m sure it made the one or two people out there who aren’t familiar with jwplayer are now convinced that the clip really was “leaked.” Sure is interesting how that guitar player happened by to strum a few notes (and over, and over, and over…) while the gay-for-pay fucks the other one, all nicely edited into a smooth-flowing segment leaked for sensation.

I’d say please, grow up but…

Several weeks ago, GayPornTimes linked to an Advocate article since removed and republished at the author’s blog, The Unabashed Queer’s Cut: Business Before Pleasure? — enough links yet? — that skids a little too close for comfort, apparently.

I wish I’d downloaded and saved the article in the edited form appearing on The Advocate’s website. (And to be honest, when it was removed, I thought it was that Regent Media wanted you to buy the magazine to read the content, or at least subscribe to the digital issue to read content that wasn’t in the current issue.) If any reader has it — the original form, not the version I linked to and is widely linked across the intertubes — please email it to me. It had a couple of prescient quotes that fit nicely with an piece I’ve been kicking around for a while on bareback porn. But alas, the piece was pulled, and now we rely on the version that has several errors that I don’t remember from the Advocate’s version, and most notably, the quote that I was most interested in has now changed as well:

Oh, the hypocrisy. Falcon “Classic Bareback” movies, compiled into convenient compilation form, on sale now!

More hypocrisy from Falcon on display

I guess what escapes them is that if there was ever a time when we’d actually see a seroconversion take place on screen, these films were made during that time.

The acquisition of Raging Stallion/Pistol Media by AEBN is having some unintended consequences. Namely that gay studios are flocking to the competition unlike at any time before.

It seems that studios such as Hot House and Lucas are placing their films on National A-1 (gay hot movies), and Maleflixx is getting inquiries from studios they’ve never done business with before.

Much of it has to do with gay studios liking some competition, and some has to do with the fact that Chris Ward and Co are hated so deeply within the gay porn community. Read the rest of this entry »

At the predictable-down-to-the-minute GayVN awards, Raging Stallion AEBN won everything, including the lovely shoes worn by Mr. Mapa. Not that anyone expected a different outcome, but one note worth mentioning: Ricky “Stubby” Sinz as best top. Who knew 4 inches will get you an award in San Francisco!

And then there’s Michael Lucas. Grabbing the microphone. Saying something stupid. Not letting it drop there. Stop me when I’ve said something new.

Inching towards its inevitable future, Falcon again advertises bareback in its weekly email (Feb. 27 edition). After attempting to claim its pre-condom movies to be bareback last April in a printed mailer, they seemed to quiet down some (and, well, after the departure of Todd Montgomery, said to be the initial driving force behind the studio’s foray into raw porn). But, it’s a recession, and sales have slowed. The same email had a buy-1-get-1-for-$5 offer that was good on the studios’ latest releases, and they were price at only $44.95, making the end-viewer price a mere $25. Imagine that; Falcon’s premier line for less than half of their magic price point. Chuck Holmes must be spinning in his grave.

Desperate times call for desperate measures.

Almost everyone in the industry knows that the so-called “merger” of Raging Stallion and AEBN is in actuality a takeover of the studio.

Director and legend-in-his-own-mind Chris Ward has had a wild ride in the porn biz. His fast dealing ways have finally caught up with him. His outsized ego was always a problem for him, and he made decisions not based on sound business practice, but on extraneous factors such as whether he could screw a competitor. Not to be cruel, but what goes around, comes around.
